Accreditation
is the process that colleges and universities undergo to prove that
the academics offered follow rigorous guidelines that prepare
students for the future. Not every college and university goes
through the accreditation process, and it's important that
prospective students understand why an accredited college is
important to their future.
For
colleges in NYC, there are two types of accreditation. Regional
accreditation is accreditation for all colleges and universities
within in a specific region. National accreditation is accreditation
that comes from commissions and higher education boards and it's
recognized throughout the U.S. When applying for admissions, always
insure that the college and programs you want have either regional or
national accreditation.
Accreditation
at Bramson ORT
Bramson
ORT is a technical college that offers degrees in the fields of
business, computer technology, medical studies, and paralegal
studies. The college has accreditation through the New York State
Board of Regents and the New York Commissioner of Education. The
college is also registered with the New York Education Department.
These accreditations insure that students who receive a degree from
our school will have the credentials needed to secure a job or
transfer to a different college or university for further education.
Why
Is Accreditation Important?
You
may be wondering why accreditation is important. Aren't all college
credits and classes similar? Wont' another university accept the
classes you've taken in the past if you need to transfer? Won't any
college degree get you the job you want? The answers to those
questions are yes and no. Yes, college classes may be similar and you
may be able to get a job with a degree from an unaccredited college,
but you may not. Many colleges in NYC expect transfer credits to come
from an accredited college or university to insure that the student
has received an education that's prepared them for transfer.
Employees
also look at the reputation and accreditation of colleges and
universities prospective employees put on applications and resumes.
If you're competing against graduates with degrees from accredited
institutions, you'll likely have a harder time landing a job.
Accreditation is so important because it denotes standards. It lets
other educational institutions and employers know that the courses
you took prepared you for your future because the college followed
strict guidelines when preparing and offering college courses. If you
want a secure future, it's
best to apply for admission to accredited colleges in NYC.
